What is a Call for Proposals?
The HIMSS Call for Proposals is an online submission process in which HIMSS requests proposals to consider for inclusion in the Annual HIMSS Conference. These proposals are reviewed and recommended for the conference by HIMSS members who act as peer reviewers. They review proposals only within their area of expertise. The Call for Proposal site includes all the information required to complete the form.

What is a Call for Reviewers?
The HIMSS Call for Reviewers is an online application process in which HIMSS requests its members to participate in the review and recommendation of proposals for the Annual HIMSS Conference. Reviewers focus on reviewing proposals within their areas of expertise. Reviewers are also given an opportunity to mentor accepted speakers through the preparation process, can act as moderator for that session at the conference, and have an opportunity to become a member of the Annual Conference Education Committee, the committee in charge of making the final selections for the Annual HIMSS Conference

Which HIMSS Conferences have a Call for Proposals and a Call for Reviewers?
The Annual HIMSS Conference, World of Health IT, and AsiaPac Conference all have a call for proposals and call for reviewers. Please see each event’s site for more details on how to submit a proposal or reviewer application.

How do you become a HIMSS Reviewer?
You must be a member of HIMSS in order to be a HIMSS Reviewer. You can apply to act as a reviewer through our online application form, which can be found in the “Call for Reviewer” section of this website.

Are their any pre-requisites that are needed to join any of the HIMSS Conference Planning Committees? If so, what?
In order to become a member of the Annual Conference Education Committee, you must have acted as a reviewer for at least 2 years. This committee is built of reviewers that represent the full spectrum of the H.I.T industry, and is balanced in terms of it’s members geographical location, work site/role, and gender.

What is the purpose of a Planning Committee?
The ACEC makes decisions on the proposal topic categories for each year’s conference, as well as makes the final selections of proposals to move forward from the Call for Proposal to the Annual Conference.

Does every HIMSS Conference have a Planning Committee?
All conferences which include a Call for Proposal and Call for Reviewer have a Planning Committee attached to them.

What is a Webinar?
The word webinar is short for Web-based seminar, which is a presentation, lecture, workshop or seminar that is transmitted over the Web. Key features of a Webinar is its interactive elements -- the ability to give, receive and discuss information.

How do know which kind of continuing education credits you could earn for participating in a Webinar?
Each webinar will have some type of continuing education credit attached. Subject matter and topic determines the type of continuing education credit that can be received. At a minimum, all HIMSS webinars receive CPHIMS credit.

How can you receive CPHIMS certification?
The primary mode of delivery of the CPHIMS exam is by computer at AMP Assessment Centers distributed throughout the world. Assessment Center locations, detailed maps & directions are available at http://www.goamp.com/sched/w_aspen.examinfo.

For computer administrations, there are no application deadlines. A candidate who meets eligibility requirements for the exam may submit an application & fee at any time.

The exam is administered by appointment only Monday through Friday at 9:00 am & 1:30 pm. Candidates are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

What is the role(s) HIMSS EMEA office?
The HIMSS mission is to lead change in the healthcare information and management systems field through knowledge sharing, advocacy, collaboration, innovation and community affiliations. HIMSS EMEA will bring this mission to Europe, Middle East and Africa.
