NHIN

As a key element of the Administration's health information technology strategy, the development of a Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) will provide the foundation for an interoperable, standards-based network for the secure exchange of healthcare information. The Office of the National Coordinator is advancing the NHIN as a “network of networks” built from state and regional health information exchanges (HIEs) and other networks to support the exchange of healthcare information by connecting these networks and the systems they connect. See HHS.gov for additional information.
