The Upper Peninsula Cybersecurity Institute (UPCI) is hosting the UP Cybersecurity Symposium at the NMU Northern Center in Marquette, Michigan from Monday, September 25th  to Wednesday, September 27th, 2023.

Overview

Taking place at the Northern Center on NMU's campus in Marquette from Tuesday, Monday 25 September through Wednesday 27 September 2023, this second annual event will bring together multiple state, federal, and civilian cybersecurity resources to connect with regional cybersecurity practitioners and decision makers. The schedule is tailored to allow for flexible participation across topics, including hands-on training and workshop activities. Multiple afternoon breakout sessions will allow for sector focused (K12 Tech, Critical Infrastructure, Small Business, Healthcare, Local Government) discussions and sessions each day. Generous funding allows us to offer this event free to participants. A detailed schedule will be shared shortly, but can be summarized as follows:

 

Day 1 Theme: Cyber Threat Landscape and Incident Prevention (Full Day)

Day 1 morning sessions are designed to provide attendees the latest information and updates on State of Michigan Cybersecurity initiatives, the current threat landscape and actors, and cybersecurity incident response planning. Multiple sector specific breakout sessions will follow lunch.

Day 2 Theme: Cyber Incident Response and Resources (Full Day)

Day 2 is focused on incident response and resources. Hear from and engage with federal, state, and local cybersecurity professionals regarding resources, services, and grants available to increase cyber hygiene in your organization.

  • Incident Response Workshop and Tabletop Exercise

Day 3 Theme:  Workforce Development, Red Team Perspective, and Communications

Day 3 is focused on workforce development, understanding the attacker mindset and how to communicate during a cyber incident response.
