Interoperability Saves Lives

17 September 2024 | Chapter Event
WEBINAR

Description:

Greg Price is the only Canadian whose death has been ascribed by an independent body to mismanagement of his health information. Yet the lived experience of patients and health care providers suggests that the poor design and use of health information is causing significant harm to Canadians and the health care system. The report Interoperability Saves Lives suggests that unless Canada reimagines how health data is managed the health care system will have difficulties fostering quality health programs and services and minimizing health data related harm. Core to this reimagination is the establishment of person-centric health data interoperability. The recent announcement of Bill C72 by the federal government represents a significant first step in the establishment of health data interoperability in Canada. Teri Price and Ewan Affleck - co-authors of Interoperability Saves Lives - will examine the state of health data interoperability in Canada, why there is reason for optimism, and why we all must be vigilant to assure improved health data design and use in Canada.
