Our members include more than 80,000 individuals, 480 provider organizations, 470 non-profit partners and 650 health services organizations. The HIMSS staff is made up of changemakers who collaborate with members to reform the global health ecosystem through the power of information and technology.

Adam Bazer is Senior Technical Manager, Informatics & Health IT Standards at HIMSS.

How long have you been at HIMSS?

My badge card still has a 2004 picture of me, when I first started with HIMSS as a market research associate for HIMSS Analytics. Over the past 16 years, I have supported the HIMSS mission in roles on HIMSS’s professional development, membership, media, event production and thought advisory teams. The badge card reminds me of many great experiences I have had working for HIMSS, and when I had more hair, and the hair I had wasn’t so grey!

How do you support our mission statement?

As the Senior Technical Manager on HIMSS’s Informatics and Health IT Standards team, I provide strategic guidance and operational development for HIMSS’s health IT standards initiatives. I liaison with Integrating the Health Enterprise (IHE USA), and manage the Global Consortium for eHealth Interoperability. HIMSS, HL7 International, and IHE International formed the Consortium to help the global community of HL7® FHIR® and IHE integration profile implementers support the advancement of key national, regional and local interoperability initiatives.

How do you know your work at HIMSS makes a difference?

With the hindsight of 16 years, the members, the partners, all of the stakeholders that make up the HIMSS community are the most vivid illustration how HIMSS makes a difference. HIMSS’s impact can be viewed from a global and a personal lens. It can be seen in individuals coming together toward collective action as a member of a committee. It can be seen by individuals participating in regulatory feedback sessions or education from clinical and business thought leaders at HIMSS events. It can also be illustrated in individuals leveraging the HIMSS professional development and certifications for professional growth.

What’s one thing you wish everyone knew about the work you do at HIMSS?

One thing I wish everyone knew about working at HIMSS is the depth of empathy, expertise and energy of the members and volunteers all across the world who dedicate themselves toward the HIMSS mission.
