Gail Rice is Senior Director of Professional Development at HIMSS.

How long have you been at HIMSS?

I've been at HIMSS for 19 years!

How do you support our mission statement?

I support the mission by helping create an “informed and empowered community of providers, innovators and individuals” through curating compelling, timely and relevant education for our stakeholders, who in turn, take that information back to their workplaces and use it to transform the health ecosystem.

How do you know your work at HIMSS makes a difference?

I know my work makes a difference because over the past almost 20 years, I have seen the evolution of helping many industry stakeholders understand why information and technology matters in healthcare to its integration and its praxis in everyday healthcare encounters. It has been our relentless efforts in educating the industry that has helped to make such an evolution possible.

What’s one thing you wish everyone knew about the work you do at HIMSS?

I wish everyone really knew there is truly a “method to the madness” as it relates to planning a massive educational program such as the education that takes place at Global Conference. It is very rewarding to see all the hard work and pieces come together as people listen and learn.
