Meet the Changemakers: LaShawn Williams

HIMSS serves the global health information and technology communities with focused operations across North America, Europe, the United Kingdom, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. Our members include more than 80,000 individuals, 480 provider organizations, 470 non-profit partners and 650 health services organizations. The HIMSS staff is made up of changemakers who collaborate with members to reform the global health ecosystem through the power of information and technology.

LaShawn Williams is Professional Development Coordinator at HIMSS.

How long have you been at HIMSS?

I’ve been at HIMSS for 4.5 years; I will hit the half-decade mark December 2020!

How do you support our mission statement?

As a member of the Professional Development division, one of the ways I support the mission is via working with and promoting the educational offerings and opportunities to the HIMSS’s student member population at the Global Health Conference and Exhibition. This enables them to not only network and develop relationships with more established health IT professionals, but also stay abreast of current issues that impact health IT.

How do you know your work at HIMSS makes a difference?

I have been recognized by intra- and interdepartmental colleagues, as well as Program Assistants (HIMSS student volunteers), who have commended me for being dependable, collaborative and cooperative, all in a collective effort to advance HIMSS’s mission.

What’s one thing you wish everyone knew about the work you do at HIMSS?

I hope people know and realize how important it is to me to always represent HIMSS on a high professional level at all times.
