Sam Wetherill, Pharm.D., MHA, MPS-SCM, is the vice president, Pharmacy Services at ChristianaCare.

In this role he oversees the strategic direction and operations of Pharmacy Services throughout ChristianaCare. 

Wetherill joined ChristianaCare in 2006 and has been instrumental in leading and supporting the team through numerous changes and large-scale projects.

In 2015 he was promoted to director, Pharmacy Supply Chain and Automation, where he provided leadership in aligning the pharmacy supply chain with the needs of patients and caregivers. Prior to this new appointment he served as corporate director, Pharmacy Services.

Among his many accomplishments is successfully positioning Pharmacy Services to support the organization’s enrollment in the 340B Drug Pricing Program. The savings enabled by the program further ChristianaCare’s efforts to address critical needs in our community.

His professional experience includes leadership roles in the hospital, retail and military sectors, which enhances his ability to identify and implement best practices in service to our patients.

He recently retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of active and reserve service. His impact on the military’s pharmacy supply chain earned him recognition as U.S. Army Reserve Pharmacist of the Year for 2013.

He received his bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the University of the Sciences and his doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Florida. He earned a master’s degree in Health Care Administration from Simmons College and a master’s degree in Supply Chain Management from Pennsylvania State University.
