Bringing Order to Chaos through Machine Learning and AI

The COVID-19 pandemic has been nothing if not unpredictable, and our understanding of it relies heavily on vast amounts of data currently being collected and analyzed. Using machine learning and AI, many researchers have been able to untangle to story of the disease using advanced data survelliance and patterns. The work of epidemologist and Harvard Medical School Professor Dr. John Brownstein has been instrumental in our understanding of the disease. Using macine learning and AI, Dr. Brownstein has been able to identfy patterns of epidemics and pandemics, and the efficacy of disease control strategies. Using these tools he had led the development of systems like HealthMap.org, an internet-based global infectious disease intelligence system, and has advised the WHO, Institute of Medicine, and the US Departments of HHS and Homeland Security on real-time public health data. In this keynote, Dr. Brownstein explores the possibilies of machine learning and AI in our current healthcare crisis as well across the industry at large.
