Santé & Solidarité: HIMSS22 Europe Recognized for Supporting eHealth Agenda of French Presidency of the Council of the European Union

Europe’s healthcare leaders will meet at the HIMSS22 European Health Conference & Exhibition (Helsinki, 14-16 June) to reimagine health for the continent’s citizens. Europe’s most influential event for Digital Health has now been endorsed by the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union (PFUE). The seal underlines HIMSS22 Europe’s commitment to support the European eHealth agenda and will strengthen the event’s footprint with European and French governmental institutions and health providers.

“At HIMSS, we are proud of the recognition, by the French Presidency, of our upcoming conference. We will continue our work to support the implementation of digital health solutions for patient focused care delivery and prevention across the European Union, and to assist stakeholders across the health eco-system to enable innovation at scale to realize the full health potential of every human, everywhere,” said HIMSS President & CEO Hal Wolf.

HIMSS is a global advisor, thought leader and member-based society committed to reforming the global health ecosystem through the power of information and technology.

HIMSS22 Europe addresses the reformation of Europe’s health systems across six main conference themes: digital maturity and security, artificial intelligence, workforce development, digital public health, person-enabled health and integrated care.

“The alignment with the goals of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union will provide conference participants with deeper and more meaningful pan-European insights at a time when the European Union is investing heavily in future-proofing its world-class universal health systems. The block will invest over €13bn into digital health transformation from the European Recovery and Resilience fund alone. Together with other financing and regulatory initiatives, the European Union is currently one of the most dynamic areas for digital health in the world,” said Armin Scheuer, Vice President and Executive Director EMEA, HIMSS.

One of the main goals of the PFUE is to advance ethical principles in digital health. The PFUE has proposed 16 such principles, which are directly addressed to the citizens of the European Union and incorporate four ethical dimensions: “placing digital health within a framework of humanist values,” “enabling people to manage their own health data digitally,” “developing inclusive digital health” and “implementing eco-friendly digital health.”

The HIMSS22 European Health Conference & Exhibition will bring together more than 3,000 high-level representatives of the European and global health systems who will now benefit from the direct insight into the activities and outcomes of the PFUE in healthcare. The host city of the pan-European event is Helsinki. Finnish authorities such as the Finnish Ministry of Health and Welfare as well as the Finnish Ministry of Economics are among the many governmental and professional organizations supporting the event. Registration is now open.
