Activating Citizens Through the Power of Data & Technology

As health systems continue to struggle under the growing burden of non-communicable disease and ageing populations, the use of digital tools has the potential to ease the strain by enabling citizens to take care of their health before becoming ill. A citizen-centric health data sharing ecosystem is a complementary approach that empowers citizens to share their personal health data with health and care providers to ensure continuity of care and help prevent disease. Data exchange mechanisms also allow patients to participate and contribute to health research and innovation. This session will feature discussion and case studies on the range of technologies, tools and platforms that are allowing citizens to become more activated in their health journeys, including wearables, sensors, monitors, patient-facing apps, digital platforms and more.

Learning outcomes:

  • Discuss the range of technologies, tools and platforms that are allowing citizens to become activated.
  • Explore the role of innovative solutions in incentivising not just individuals, but entire populations, to become more fit and active.
  • Learn about the role of data exchange in enabling patients to participate and contribute to health research and innovation.
