Dr. Dimitra Georgiou is an Adjunct Lecturer and a Post Doctoral Researcher in the Department of Digital Systems at the University of Piraeus, Greece, in the field of Security and Privacy in Information Health Systems. She holds a Ph.D. in Security Policies for Cloud Computing from the Department of Digital Systems, University of Piraeus, Greece and an M.Sc. in Digital Systems with specialization in network-Oriented Information Systems from the same University, in Greece. She also holds a Bachelor, as Mechanical Engineer of Computer Science and Telecommunications from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Applied Sciences of Thessaly, Greece and a Certificate of Proficiency in Teaching from the Department of Primary Education, University of Crete, Greece.

Since 2011, she has been a member of the Systems Security Laboratory (SSL) of the University of Piraeus under the supervision of Prof.Costas Lambrinoudakis and has received scholarship as a PostDoctoral Researcher from the Hellenic State Scholarship Foundation of Greece and the European Union, due to the quality and necessity of her research project in the field of “Security and Privacy of Cloud-based Health Systems in Compliance with GDPR”. 

During the last ten years, she worked as an Adjunct Lecturer in various Universities and has been involved as an IT Security Expert in national and EU funded R&D projects, carrying out research and administrative responsibilities. Her current research interests lie in the areas of Information and Communication Systems Security and Privacy. She is an author and presenter of various scientific publications in conferences and journals. She has served as a reviewer and a member of organizing committees in conferences. She is also, a member of the IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Women in Engineering, ISACA and paricipates actively in "Women4Cyber" and “Women in CyberSecurity”. She is also a Certified ISMS Auditor of ISO 27001:2013 byTÜV Austria Hellas.
