Aku Karvinen has over two decades of experience in computational fluid dynamics and simulations in a wide variety of applications.  At VTT, he has focused on clean air solutions and in recent years on simulating the spread of pathogens in various circumstances. His simulations have been used to study and develop different mitigation methods. He has also contributed to educating the public about the spread of pathogens and the prevention of the spread of pathogens, both in the newspapers and on TV. He is leading E3 project (Excellence in Pandemics Response) at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland
