Dr. Pasi Keinänen has more than 20 years of experience in business related to materials science and nanotechnology. He has worked in several different technology startups in various positions and has also gained experience in startup coaching, portfolio management and funding. Pasi holds a Masters Degree in Physics from University of Jyväskylä, Finland and Ph.D. in Materials Science from Tampere University, Finland. Recently Pasi was accepted into the Forbes Technical Council where his publications will focus on e.g. antimicrobial resistant microbes.
In early 2022 Tampere Technical Creativity Award was given to Pasi and his team for developing a non-toxic antimicrobial photocatalytic coating to protect people from contagious diseases that mainly spread from touch surfaces. The photocatalytic coating uses nanotechnology. It has been of significant benefit in combating epidemics and even the current pandemic. The photocatalytic coating, together with normal indoor light, destroys viruses, bacteria, mold spores, and other volatile organic compounds. The coating disinfects the surface when exposed to light. The phenomenon is called photocatalysis. Microbes are not capable of becoming resistant to photocatalysis.
