Georgia January Lunch and Learn

January 26, 2023 | Chapter Event

Information technology is increasingly a part of every aspect of the healthcare industry. While more organizations are implementing electronic health records, health information exchanges and computerized physician order entry systems, patients remain concerned about the privacy and security of their information. Although most healthcare organizations have at least implemented electronic financial records, this information needs to be protected just as much.

In addition, legal requirements, such as HIPAA, impact what information organizations must keep secure and how it should be done. Healthcare leaders and CIOs are often asked to lead the way in which security initiatives are designed and deployed—without knowing where technology will lead us in the coming years, while obtaining the buy-in and trust of staff, patients and the community.
