The Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program specification sheets for calendar year (CY) 2022 can be accessed through the links below:

Reporting Reminders

Eligible hospitals and CAHs are required to report on measures from each of the program’s four scored objectives: Electronic Prescribing, Health Information Exchange, Provider to Patient Exchange, and Public Health and Clinical Data Exchange.

For 2022 program reporting, the electronic health record (EHR) reporting period for participants attesting to CMS is a minimum of any continuous 90-day period within the calendar year.

Scoring Methodology

CMS implements a performance-based scoring methodology for eligible hospitals and CAHs that attest to CMS through the Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program. 100 total points will be available for the required objectives and measures of the Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program. A total score of at least 60 points for CY 2022 recognizes an eligible hospital or CAH as a meaningful EHR user and will avoid a downward payment adjustment. Eligible hospitals or CAHs scoring below these thresholds will not be considered a meaningful EHR user and are subject to a downward payment adjustment.
