Stewart Garner is a passionate and driven Healthcare Advisor at Kassouf and Co., P.C. As a Healthcare Advisor, Stewart helps clients make informed business decisions and find innovative solutions to increase profitability and efficiency. His areas of emphasis include but are not limited to operational consulting and assessment of business practices, EHR and PM system implementation and optimization, revenue cycle management, bundled payment model initiatives, and HIPAA privacy and security compliance.

 

Stewart enjoys meeting new people and partnering with like-minded organizations to execute both education and networking events for our chapter members. When not working, you may find him on a local disc golf course or spending time outside with his wife and daughter.

 

 

Jessica Fowler   Jessica Fowler, Past President

Integration Engineer at Children's of Alabama

 

Jessica Bodner Fowler is an Integration Engineer at Children’s of Alabama. She has 13 years of healthcare IT experience, including hands-on work in HL7 interfaces, report development, population health, and SQL queries. She has both a Master of Science in Health Informatics and a Master of Science in Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Jessica has been a member of HIMSS since 2007 and has served in various roles on the HIMSS Alabama Chapter Board of Directors since 2013. Outside of work, she enjoys yoga and gardening. 

 

 

 

 

Joni Wyatt   Joni Wyatt, Treasurer 

Principal and Healthcare advisor at Kassouf & Co.

 

With over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Joni Wyatt, a Principal and Healthcare advisor at Kassouf & Co. specializes in physician practicen management, practice startups, physician contracting and compensation, health information systems, healthcare compliance, quality reporting and value-based reimbursement models.  Joni has been involved in several quality and value-based reimbursement initiatives in Alabama and was named a National Meaningful Use Vanguard for the State in 2012. She earned a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration and a Master’s degree in Health Information Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2000. She is certified as a Professional in Health Information Management Systems (CPHIMS).  Joni is a member of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) and the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).  She has been an active member of the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) since 2001 and earned Fellow status in 2014. She has been an officer on the Board for the Alabama Chapter of HIMSS since 2012 and has served as Treasurer, President Elect, President, Past President and Member at Large. 

 

 

 

Allen Daniels   Allen Daniels, Secretary

Mr. Daniels has been a HIMSS member since 2008, and has served on the AL HIMSS board since 2013. He has been in healthcare IT for over 15 years, and is a systems analyst, administrator and implementation lead. 

 

 

 

Luona Wang   Luona Wang, Marketing/Communications

Business Manager of Pharmacy Services, Huntsville Hospital 

 

Luona Wang is the Business Manager of Pharmacy Services at Huntsville Hospital. She oversees the health system's 340B program as well as the financials at Huntsville's outpatient infusion centers. She has her Masters in Health Administration and Masters in Health Informatics with a concentration in User Experience from University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Her passion and goal is to utilize her unique skill set to improve, disrupt, and revolutionize the health care industry. Luona has been part of HIMSS Alabama Chapter since 2016 and part of the Marketing/Communications committee since 2019. Outside of work, Luona loves spending time her husband, parents, and friends - 92% extroverted. Her hobbies include pilates, fencing, and traveling.

 

 

 

Walter Willis  Walter Willis, Sponsorship

Mr. Willis has been employed by Huntsville Hospital Health System in Huntsville, AL for the past seven years in the Information Technology department. Currently, he serves as an IT Manager and is responsible for Business and Financial Applications. He is a PMI certified program manager and has held numerous leadership positions within the military, hospital and consulting industries. Mr. Willis has been an active member of the Alabama Chapter of HIMSS since 2011 and has served as the sponsorship chair since 2014.

 

 

 

 

Sue Feldman Sue Feldman, Academic Liaison

Professor, Director of Graduate Programs in Health Informatics at University of Alabama at Birmingham 

 

Sue Feldman, RN, MEd, PhD, currently serves as Director of Graduate Programs in Health Informatics in the School of Health Professions at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Feldman also has appointments in the School of Medicine as a Senior Scientist in the Informatics Institute. She is also a Senior Scientist in the Center for the Study of Community Health in the School of Public Health at UAB. Her research focuses on health information systems – from development to evaluation. Most recently, Dr. Feldman led a team in developing symptom assessment and exposure notification tools for the state of Alabama. One of these tools, Healthcheck for symptom assessment was used across K-12 and higher education across the state to keep schools open and classes in in-person session. This initiative was funded with a $7.1 million grant from the Governor of Alabama. This effort led to being awarded the HIMSS 2021 Changemaker in Health Award.

 

Dr. Feldman is a Chair of the Health Informatics Accreditation Council for the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management (CAHIIM), chairs Graduate Health Informatics accreditation site visit teams, and has studied and developed graduate level health and public health informatics curricula. In her work on the Commission, she had an active role in shaping the accreditation standards that complement AMIA’s foundational domains. Dr. Feldman has also developed curriculum for CDC’s Public Health Informatics Fellowship Program.

 

As a Registered Nurse (RN) for over 30 years, Dr. Feldman brings a unique clinical and informatics blend to everything she does, grounding policy and theory with practice. Dr. Feldman has published in a variety of top-tier peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, led or co-led the development of several information systems that are grounded in research, and has served as program chair for several national forums. Her current work, in parallel to her COVID-19 work, involves leading the development of a substance use, abuse, and recovery data collection system for the state of Alabama. Dr. Feldman has a Masters degree in Education and a PhD in Education and also in Information Systems and Technology from Claremont Graduate University.

Mark Lauteren is the Assistant Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Jackson Hospital and Clinic in Montgomery, AL.  Mr. Lauteren has served as a CIO for various healthcare organizations for over 9 years.  Mr. Lauteren has worked in IT for almost 40 years.  Most of that has been in Healthcare IT.
