Practical Strategies to Manage Team Conflict in the Digital World

As healthcare continues to change and evolve, inter-professional teams are becoming more commonplace. Working with members of varying backgrounds and role responsibilities, and lack of clarity about those roles, can lead to workplace conflict. Differing expectations of various team-members can also lead to increased stress that can manifest in passive or active conflict. In this session, we will start with a case of conflict and analyze the reactions of individual team-members with respect to their preferred conflict management style. We will focus on how attendees can identify precursors to conflict and work proactively to mitigate conflicts when they do occur. We will also focus on communication strategies to optimize relationships their team-members. We will examine "healthy" conflict and strategies that can prevent degeneration of conflict.
