Artificial Intelligence is set to revolutionise healthcare over the next five years, with much hype around its power to transform patient care, free up clinicians’ time and cut costs. Already a reality in the world’s most advanced medical settings, AI has multiple applications, ranging from health monitoring through wearable health trackers, to precision medicine, digital consultation, virtual clinicians and interpreting test, MRI and CT scan results. However, the fact is that we are still in the foothills when it comes to AI in healthcare and in order to harness its full potential, there are huge barriers to implementation to identify and overcome.
