Bridging the Digital Skills Gap

The rapid pace of digital transformation accelerated by the pandemic has led to fears of a digital skills gap among healthcare workers. There is a need for the workforce to gain sound digital capabilities grounded in knowledge and skills to support change and innovation. Not only is it essential to ensure that competencies of digital health are included in the education and training of all health professionals, but life-long training is also required to keep up with the ever-changing technological landscape. To achieve this goal sustainable investment is needed for staff training. In this session, a panel of clinicians and healthcare experts will discuss how to ensure staff receive adequate levels of education, training and equipment to use new digital tools and solutions for change. This includes the case for an internationally standardised digital health education. There will also be an inspiring presentation on how surgical telementoring can be used to improve surgical education.
