Teresa Tonthat

Teresa Tonthat serves as the Chief Technology and Security Officer for Texas Children’s, the largest pediatric hospital in the nation. As a senior business leader overseeing a team of 230 technologists, she focuses on identifying key motivators to facilitate team collaboration, exceptional performance and continuous service quality. Prior to joining Texas Children’s, Tonthat held multiple senior leadership roles within information technology and internal audit for one of the largest multinational oil and gas corporations with operations in over 70 countries, globally.

Tonthat joined Texas Children’s in 2018 and delivered a $40mm multi-year cybersecurity program while leading teams to complete the building of state-of-the-art data centers with disaster recovery capabilities. Tonthat partners with system executives to deliver a portfolio of enterprise technologies to enable business strategies while maintaining a robust digital foundation facilitating ongoing availability, reliability and security.

Tonthat holds a Bachelor degree in Management Information Systems from Louisiana State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from The University of Houston.  She serves on various information security executive councils including eHealth Initiative (eHI), Symantec Advisory Board, Children’s Healthcare Association (CHA), Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), Association for Executives in Healthcare Information Security (AEHIS), and in 2019 was nominated by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) to become a faculty member of the CHIME CISO Boot-camp program.  In her spare time, Tonthat enjoys spending time traveling and trying new cuisines with her husband and three young children.
