Advancing Digital Therapeutics in Mental Health: Improving Lives and Tackling Inequalities

The landscape of digital therapeutics (DTx) is evolving rapidly. In this session experts will examine the potential these software-based interventions hold to improve lives, empower patients, and tackle inequalities in mental health within the context of broader digital transformation. Case studies will be shared evidencing the clinical impacts of DTx in depression, anxiety, serious mental illness and protecting the psychological wellbeing of patients with non-communicable disease. A roundtable discussion will explore how DTx can be better integrated into the patient journey, engaging users in co-design and overcoming regulatory barriers to success. What are the complexities around scaling DTx solutions nationally and internationally? How can we define and differentiate DTx? Where to draw the line on regulation and approval of mental health apps? Challenges around adherence and long-term effectiveness of DTx will also be discussed, including a look at gamification/nudging techniques.
