Elena Bonfiglioli

Elena Bonfiglioli leads the Health Industry business for Microsoft in Europe, Middle East, and Africa and she is a part of the World Wide Public Sector Health Team.  In this role, she is responsible for driving strategy and business development, partnerships, and positioning for the region across public health, social services, providers, and payers in the cure and care markets. Elena oversees a community of 50 professionals across the EMEA market.
Elena spearheaded an initiative on Healthier Citizens, shaping a vision and an industry-wide position of advocacy for the sustainability of health systems through IT innovation, and launched the Partners’ Coalition for Healthier Cities. 
Prior to this role, Elena was Director of Corporate Affairs and Corporate Responsibility for Microsoft in Europe.  Elena is also the co-founder and a Board Member of the Women in Leadership (WiL) Network, a joint effort between Microsoft, INSEAD, and the Women Forum.  She recently set up the Women Talent Pool, a program of the WiL that aims to nurture emerging women leaders.
Before joining Microsoft more than ten years ago, Elena worked for CSR Europe as Director of Corporate Programs. She was also in charge of stakeholder engagement and identifying good case practices across companies. Elena actively contributed to the development of the CSR agenda at the policy level in Europe.  She pioneered and founded the European Academy of Business in Society and served EABiS as interim Executive Director in the first year and a half.

Elena started her career working as a researcher for the Italian government and the University of Bologna in the field of fiscal economic reform.  She holds a cum laude degree in economics from the University of Modena, Italy; a Master’s degree in European studies from the College of Europe, in Belgium; and a Licénce from the University of Montpellier (France).
